St. John the Baptist/Safeguarding
St. John the Baptist Church, Greatham is committed to safeguarding the welfare of everyone we welcome. This includes all children, young people and adults.
It's our priority that safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. The aim is to ensure a safe environment for everyone who wishes to worship, visit or contribute to any of the Churches services and activities.
Church of England
We fully endorse the Church of England’s safeguarding policy statement ‘Promoting a safer Church’ which asserts:
“The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church. Everyone who participates in the life of the Church has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all.”
Safeguarding training
We require that everyone who carries out activities on behalf of the the Church is fully equipped and trained in the Church of England Safeguarding policies and procedures.
Safeguarding training is key in preventing abuse from happening, protecting those who are vulnerable or at risk, and we aim to respond well to those who contact us with safeguarding concerns.
